Writing 101, Day Five: Be Brief

Code Pink

It was an unusually quiet day. Rupert stood in the ranger tower peering out through his binoculars at the mountainous terrain.

After a desire for a change of scenery, he took a walk along a popular hiking trail. He came across a folded letter on bright pink stationary. There were a few stains of fresh blood on it. Out of curiosity, he reached down and picked up the letter to read it.

“Please help me! I’m in danger! We are headed north on this trail. I will know you came to rescue me when I see the pink letter in your possession.”

For Rupert, what started out as an ordinary day became truly remarkable.
